These two, relatively young deer, come frequently to see what we have thrown out.  One of them will watch Barbara brush her teeth on the porch and not run off. There are new leaves on the denuded branches of the tree. But we don't know if they'll survive the 50+ mph winds that have been shaking the house all day today.  So far the deer have left them alone. Chinese puzzle: Barbara wants Don to install kitchen cabinets. First, though, he has to install the plywood layer of the flooring backing. Before that, he really ought to paint the ceiling, which means he needs to put on the texture coat of drywall compound first. To do that, he first had to roller on some nice, thick compound, then go over it with the texture roller. Don had to cut out and drill out holes for the toilet supply pipe and mounting bracket. This makes it look much easier than it actually turned out to be. The subfloor fit EXACTLY, but the holes needed to be enlarged, necessitating removing the subfloor. It did NOT want to be removed, but eventually Don was able to pry it out, modify it, then glue and screw it to the bottom subfloor. Don wanted to stiffen the front of the balcony, so he made a valence to cover raw edges of the flooring. After a trial fitting, he decided it looked too plain, so he cut scallops into the valance with a skill saw. Here he is sanding the rough edges. They will need to be painted before the valance is installed permanently. Starting on the gate.   Making the half-lap joint. ...
