Journal of Progress--June

Thursday, June 1 Barbara hung up my bird houses and bird feeder things. Don went to Provo—he says that is the nearest Home Depot, to get rebar. Barbara expected Don would take a while. It was getting later and later in the afternoon. Don still had not returned. Barbara was getting worried because it was much longer than she expected. Itt was near four before he did come back.Barbara had practically planned his funeral and figured out her widowhood by then.   Friday, June 2 Don worked at getting ready to put to rebar in the foundation.  Barbara got phone service set up. Saturday, June 3, 2017 We opened up our tent trailer and got out the useful things there.  In the afternoon, a friend from Provo came out and with her metal detector and we went treasure hunting where the Railway Station was.  This is just below where we are building. Sunday, June 4, 2017 Day of rest Monday, June 5, 2017 Don continued to work on the foundation ...

Don drew the plans himself with some input from Barbara The ground floor plan is going to be revised.  We plan to put the kitchen on the west end and a second bathroom.

Books about the Area

Evidently books abound about ghost towns and mining in Utah.  Here is a sampling that Margaret has available at her bed and breakfast.  This should be required reading for residents out here.  It tells of the local history of mining, the lure of mining, the tremendous amount of money made by certain individuals though the mining, it tells the legends, the crimes, the prejudice--especially towards Mormons.  It is an interesting read.  This is actually just a pamphlet warning explorers.  I'll have to borrow this book when my rock hound grandson visits.
