It was our area conference.  We went to a broadcast in Eureka.

Don cut out a portion of the floor over the basement in order to get things in and out of the basement. It will create a window seat in the living room. He also set up his table saw and ripped the boards (this means cutting them to the right width) for the supports going down to the basement and he bolted those boards into place. His third task for the day was to cut a door in the root cellar so that he could get into the crawl space where the pipes are. At some point, late in the day, he was putting more gas in the generator. The day was hot so the gas was hot so it spurted when he went to pour it and some got into his eye. He came into the house yelling “Eye wash! Eye wash.” Barbara didn’t know where it was since he had bought it and put it some place. He found it and began washing his eye out. Barbara went online to see what to do if you get gasoline in the eye. They said to flush it continuously for about five minutes. If the pain persists, see a doctor. It ceased to hurt but he said that at night time, he felt like there was a hair in his eye. He washed it again and by morning, it felt fine. He also got a blessing which promised him his eye would be healed. After dinner, Barbara and Don went to Provo. Don was wanting to buy some pipe for the electricity but found it was frightfully expensive so he ended up buying some of the plumbing pipes and some more plywood for the walls.

Don laid out the wall facing west on the section over the basement. The wind came up strongly, we heard thunder and it looked like it was storming in Eureka. We went to Eureka and got money and went to Stockton and got wood.

Don worked on the short north facing wall. We had a little back and forth because he wants it to be a brace wall and Barbara wants a window in it. We finally came to an agreement where it can be both. Don had Barbara order a window to fit the space.

Don continued to work on his walls. He mortised the brace in the north facing wall. That means he cut out spaces in the studs so that the brace would lay flat. He started working on the wall going into the basement.

We had a pounding rain over night. It was still raining hard in the morning. Sometimes the rain was coming down so hard, we could not see a near neighbor's house. The wheelbarrow collected over 3” of water. The rain came from the west and there is some in the basement.    This rain was pretty persuasive combined with the forecast that it is to get down to 32 degrees some nights next week that it would be better to tuck the house away for the winter before standing any walls up since we doubt we have time to get all of the walls up and the attic floor over them before winter sets seriously in.

We went to Salt Lake and looked for apartments and have put a deposit down to hold it until the application process can be completed.  Don bought tarps to cover the house with for the winter and pipes for the electrical wires he plans to bury in the same trench as the geo-thermal pipes.
